Rodney B. Herenton

Founder, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chief Business Development & Strategy Officer

25+ Years Experience

Prior to founding Channing Capital, Rodney served as first vice-president of the Private Fund Group at Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. Previously, he was an associate in the Investment Banking Department at Bear Stearns where he was responsible for M&A deal execution and equity and high-yield bond transactions. Additionally, he was an associate in the Corporate Finance Department at Lehman Brothers.

Rodney earned a B.A. in finance from Morehouse College (Phi Beta Kappa) and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Wendell Mackey

Wendell E. Mackey, CFA

Founder, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer

30+ Years Experience | Lead Portfolio Manager – Small & SMID Value Strategies

Prior to founding Channing Capital, Wendell was Senior Managing Director of Valenzuela Capital Partners, LLC, a small and mid-cap equities boutique, where he shared responsibility for managing the firm’s assets, research staff and overall firm. Previously, he was a portfolio manager with Barnett Capital Advisors, responsible for mid/large cap institutional assets, and he held a senior role at NCM Capital Management Group, where he served as portfolio manager responsible for Calvert Social Investment Managed Growth Fund and Calvert CRI Balanced Fund. He also held analyst positions with PNC Bank in the Corporate Finance and Investment Management and Research divisions of the Bank.

Wendell earned a B.B.A. from Howard University and an M.M. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors for the Howard University School of Business and previously served as a Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee of the CFA Society of Chicago. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Deryck Lampe

Deryck Lampe, CFA

30+ Years Experience | Lead Portfolio Manager – Large & All Cap Value Strategies

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Deryck served as the Senior Portfolio Manager/Director of Research for all internal, actively managed, fundamental equity products for the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS). Previously, he held positions with Cheyne Capital Management, LLP, FHS Investments, LLC, Stein, Roe, and Farnham, and Conseco Capital Management, where he entered the investment field in 1994.

Deryck earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Statistics/Operations Research as well as an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance from the University of Cincinnati. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Tim was a founder and director of research for InView Investment Management, LLC and a vice president at ABN AMRO Asset Management Holdings Inc. where he researched equities for a 5-star Morningstar-rated and Money Top 100 mutual fund with more than $1 billion in assets. Tim also held positions at Lincoln Capital Management and Mesirow Financial as a sell-side small-cap value research analyst.

Tim earned a B.S. in finance from Southern Illinois University and an M.M. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Matthew Betourney

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Matt was a Senior Research Analyst at Susquehanna Investment Group based in Chicago. He researched event-driven situations focused in the industrial and materials sectors. Previously, Matt was a Senior Research Analyst at Wintrust Capital Management where he researched small-cap equities in the industrials, materials and consumer sectors. He also held an equity research position at Magnetar Financial LLC.

Matt earned his B.B.A. in Finance with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of Iowa, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Jason Boles

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Jason was a Senior Equity Analyst on the Small-Cap Value team at WEDGE Capital Management, covering various sectors including technology, industrials, and transportation. Previously, Jason was an Equity Research Associate with Bank of America, focusing on the technology hardware sector.

Jason earned a B.S. in Economics from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Kevin Reynolds Ccm

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Kevin was a Senior Vice President at Wunderlich Securities, Inc. where he researched small-cap and mid-cap Regional and Community Banks. He also held equity research positions at Morgan Keegan & Co., Janney Montgomery Scott and Stanford Group.

Kevin earned a B.B.A. in finance from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) and an M.B.A. from the Fogelman College of Business and Economics, University of Memphis. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Derik Coffey

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Derik was a Portfolio Specialist at Herndon Capital Management focused on value strategies. Previously, he was an analyst at UBS Financial Services in the Manager Research Group responsible for due diligence on managers primarily in the small and mid-cap space. Before that, he was an Assistant Vice President for M&A at New York Life Insurance and an analyst in the Global M&A Group at Lehman Brothers.

Derik earned a B.A. from Tuskegee University and an M.S. from Georgetown University. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Jack Crowley

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Jack was an Equity Trader at Driehaus Capital Management and Columbia Wanger Asset Management where his main focus was trading small cap and SMID domestic and international equities for the firm’s institutional accounts as well as the firm’s founder.

Jack earned a B.S. from Saint Louis University. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations.

Prior to joining Channing Capital, David was Director of Operations at Everest Capital. Previously, he was the Chief Administrative Officer at Hansberger Global Investors where he was responsible for account administration, portfolio accounting and valuation, trade settlements, proxy voting, and portfolio compliance.

David earned a B.S. in Accounting & Finance from Florida State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Ryan Hanley

Operations Manager

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Ryan was the Senior Hedge Fund Operations Specialist at UBS O’Connor. Before that he was an Operations Specialist at Driehaus Capital Management covering a variety of roles including data management, corporate actions, portfolio reconciliation, pricing, and trade support.

Ryan earned a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Robin Anderson

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Robin was a portfolio manager’s assistant/back-up trader with Hotchkiss Associates LLC, responsible for client reconciliation, performance calculations, presentation materials, trade execution and operations. She was also marketing assistant and assistant equity trader at CSI Asset Management.

Robin earned an A.A. from Central YMCA Community College.

Richard Turnley

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Richard was president of Atlanta Wealth Advisors and an investment management consultant for Bank of America and Smith Barney, responsible for developing and managing client relationships with endowments, foundations, trusts and high-net-worth individuals. Previously, Richard was a corporate banking associate with Wachovia Bank.

Richard earned a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.B.A. from Florida A&M University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Securities Professionals.

Anna Sprecher

Manager, Client Service

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Anna was a Client Relationship Specialist at Robert W. Baird & Co. where she worked with the Private Asset Management Team focused on families with net worths of $10 million and higher. As a Client Relationship Specialist, Anna’s primary responsibilities were client service, trading, reporting, and marketing support services on behalf of the wealth management team. Prior to Baird, Anna also worked in a client service capacity at Wunderlich Securities and William Blair & Company. She began her career at a boutique, sell-side, institutional trading firm, Capital Management Group, LLC.

Prior to joining the firm, she was a Program Manager at Altisource Portfolio Solutions focused on financial services, specifically in real estate. Previously, Kina was a Managing Director Assistant at Bernstein Private Wealth Management. Before that, she worked in Marketing and Client Services at Herndon Capital Management and as an Associate Consultant at Gray & Company.

Kina earned a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Kennesaw State University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Spelman College.

Office Manager; Executive Assistant to the co-CEOs

Alma supports leadership as well as oversees the daily operations of the general office, relaying and implementing important information from leadership. Prior to joining Channing Capital, Alma worked at Cannon Design where she assisted C-level executives and senior management. Throughout her career she has provided key support in all aspects of day-to-day operations, including administrative-staff supervision, recruiting, payroll, accounting, human resources, and establishing new office procedures.

Alma earned a B.F.A. from the International Academy of Design & Technology in Chicago.

Curtis Flippen is a Director within ACA’s Regulatory Advisory Practice. ACA is a leading governance, risk, and compliance advisor in financial services. He provides advice and guidance in all aspects of fiduciary and regulatory issues to investment advisers managing private and public funds and institutional clients. Mr. Flippen has more than 20 years of experience in investment and securities legal and regulatory matters. Prior to joining ACA, he held various compliance and legal roles at: 5th Level Capital, NovaBlock, QMA/Prudential, Metlife Advisors, Bear Stearns Asset Management, Deloitte, and E&Y.

Curtis earned a B.S. from Hampton University and JD from Rutgers Law School.

Prior to joining Channing Capital, Sidney served as Chief Compliance Officer & Chief Legal Officer for the JN Asset Management & Funds Group in Chicago. Previously, he was Chief Regulatory-Compliance Officer & Chief Investment Counsel for MONY Capital management and 1740 Capital Advisors in New York. Additionally, he was a Senior Regulatory Officer & Deputy Chief Compliance Officer for the MONY Funds and a Senior Vice President—Regulatory/Compliance & Senior Counsel for MONY Securities.​

Sidney earned a B.A. degree and a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from the University of Rochester.​
